Call Dropping Issue

Mobile Phones have become most common thing in this world. Not all people have smartphone, but a basic phone has become a necessity in todays world. The main function of a mobile phone was to make calls when it was invented, and is still today on a $1000 smartphone. People all around the globe can communicate with each other through calls. But the issue of call drops has become a barrier between the communication.

What is a call drop?

A call drop is the disconnection of the ongoing call with another person without the caller ending it which happens mostly on wireless networks i.e. mobile phones.

This is becoming more common thing nowasays. The issue has become a big headache for the telecom operators due to people's increasing complaints about the call drops.

3 reasons causing call drops.

1. Lack of Towers

Due to mobile phones, especially smartphones, becoming more affordable, it has brought them to everyone's hands. But the number of tower remaining the same. Thus, due to high number of users and less number of network towers have burdened the towers

2. Burden of Subscribers

As said earlier, the number of mobile phone users have increased. Earlier its used to be that each phone had single sim feature, thus every person could maximum use one sim in their phone. But now, after the entry of Jio in India and latest smartphones coming with minimum dual sim slots, the number of sim card users have increased, as everyone likes to have two phone numbers – First one being Jio and the secondary one being of any other telecom operator.

3. Lack of Spectrum

Mobile phones use the radio waves ranging between 300 – 3000 Hz. Lower the range better will be the transmission. India has three frequencies for GSM, 900, 1800 and 2100 Hz. 900 and 1800 are used for 2G and 2100 is used for 3G. As the number of 4g subscribers increased, the spectrum bands finds it hard to serve the mammoth population.
