- Contrary to the online
market which had a Blast in 2018, offline channels had a dull year
According to the report, the online-focused brands drove the online channel
share to an all time high of 38.4 percent in 2018 and a whopping 42.2 percent
in 2018 Q4 whereas offline channels had a rather muted year with a modest 6.7
percent annual growth and a 5 percent sequential growth in Q4.
Joshi also added, "Shipments from Xiaomi, Asus, One Plus and more grew
online channels by 47.3 percent Year-on-Year (YoY) in Q4, but the offline
channel was unable to keep pace with the discounts and go-to-market initiatives
from the e-tailers almost throughout the year."

to around Rs 11,000, with high shipments in the mass segment of $100-$200 which
amounts to Rs 7,000 to Rs 14000
approx. The latter segments app apparently accounted for more than half of the
smartphone market in India, according to the report.
"The premium end of the market (above US$500) outgrew all other price
segments in 2018 with 43.9 percent YoY growth, although it still constitutes a
meager 3 percent share of the overall smartphone market. One Plus emerged as
the leader in US$500-US$700 segment on the back of the One
Plus 6 and the newly-launched One Plus 6T. However, in the super premium
segment of US$700+, Samsung surpassed Apple for the top position with its
Galaxy S9 series," said Upasana Joshi.
